Does Paperless Post Send Physical Cards? Not by Mail (2026)

No. Paperless Post doesn't print or mail cards itself. Its help center says it "does not have in-house printing services". For paper, it sends you to Paper Source, its exclusive print partner, which prints selected designs, 20 cards at the least, and ships the box to you. Stamping and mailing each card is your job.
Disclosure: ShipNote is our product and it appears below. Paperless Post's and Paper Source's details and prices were checked against their own help, product and shipping pages on September 29, 2026.
How do Paperless Post paper cards work?
You leave Paperless Post to order them. The help article lists four routes to a printed copy, and only one of them ends with cards in a box:
- Paper Source. Paper Source sells curated Wedding, Holiday and Stationery designs from Paperless Post, customized and bought on Paper Source's own site. This is the only route where someone else does the printing.
- Etsy. Paperless Post's Etsy shop sells designs you download "to print at home or via the print service of your choice."
- A print file. For an existing Paperless Post design, its Personal Design Services team may supply a high-resolution JPG or PDF "for a fee", if the artwork qualifies.
- A keepsake. Right-click the card preview and save it as a PNG. Paperless Post says that file lacks the quality needed for professional printing.
So the physical card, if you want one, is a Paper Source order.
Does Paper Source mail the cards to your guests?
Paper Source documents no service that stamps and mails cards to your guests. Its FAQ offers Recipient Addressing, which prints your list onto the envelopes "for large, at-once mail-outs," and it ships orders by UPS. Custom print orders need a signature on delivery, so Paper Source suggests a shipping address where someone is home during the day.
That leaves you a box of cards, with the envelopes addressed if you paid for Recipient Addressing, a sheet of stamps to buy, and a trip to the mailbox. For a holiday card that is fine. For 60 wedding thank-yous, it is 60 envelopes to stuff, seal and stamp after the box arrives.
Timing, from Paper Source's own digital-printing production chart: two to four business days to print, and five to ten business days in all before the box reaches you with standard shipping, or three to six with expedited. Then the cards still have to be mailed.
What does a Paperless Post paper thank-you card cost?
$3.03 to $4.07 a card all-in, on orders of 20 to 100, envelopes included, before any addressing or shipping charge. That is Paper Source's Rose Thank You Card, a kate spade new york design for Paperless Post, plus an 82¢ stamp. ShipNote is $1.99 a card on 10 or more, with First-Class postage included and every card mailed for you.
| Service | All-in per card, with postage | Mails each card to your guests? | Postage | Price checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ShipNote | $1.99 each on 20, 50 or 100 · $2.49 one postcard | Yes, every order | Included (First-Class) | Our own rate |
| Paperless Post, printed by Paper Source | $4.07 on 20 · $3.68 on 50 · $3.03 on 100 · envelopes included, before any addressing or shipping charge | No: shipped to you by UPS to stamp and mail | Not in the card price — one 82¢ stamp for a standard card under 1 oz | Sep 29, 2026 |
| Postable | $5.41 each on 20 or more · $6.81 one card (stamp added) | Yes, as standard | Billed separately — 82¢ a card | Sep 29, 2026 |
Every card we priced, on orders of 20 to 100, costs more than ShipNote's $1.99 once the stamp is added, and of the three, only ShipNote and Postable put the card in the mail for you. Before the stamp, the Rose card lists at $3.25 each for 20, $2.86 for 50 and $2.21 for 100; 20 is the smallest quantity Paper Source offers. We priced one design and didn't take an order through checkout, so addressing and shipping charges aren't in these figures; envelopes come with the cards. Paper Source's free standard shipping starts at $60, with exclusions.
For 50 thank-yous, that is $99.50 on ShipNote, $184.00 for the Rose cards with stamps before any extras, and $270.50 on Postable. The cheapest way to mail thank-you cards runs the same math across more services.
Is an email thank-you from Paperless Post ok?
For a wedding gift, traditional etiquette says no. The Emily Post Institute's wedding email guidance is to send a handwritten note for each gift, and to use email only as a stop-gap that says the gift arrived and a note will follow. Its general advice is looser: email works "when you just need to say a simple thanks quickly."
So a Paperless Post card is a fine quick thanks for a dinner or a birthday favor. For a wedding gift, that guidance means a note in the mail, and traditionally a handwritten one. What that card has to say, and whether a printed one counts, is covered in wedding thank-you card etiquette.
How do you get a real card to every guest's door?
Use a service that mails for you. ShipNote is built for exactly this: a registry batch of thank-yous, each naming its own gift, printed and mailed with postage included, without passing through your hands. It is $1.99 a card all-in on 10 or more.
- Paste instead of typing an address list. Paste a registry list, your purchase emails or a spreadsheet, and AI extracts the names, gifts and addresses. Amazon, Babylist, Zola, Target and The Knot lists all work. US addresses only. Rows the paste couldn't address are flagged when you press Next: Review, and a flagged row offers "Don't have their address? Request it with a link".
- Every card names the gift. You write one message with
[RECIPIENT]and[GIFT_NAME]tokens, and each card fills them in from that guest's row. Any card can be edited on its own before the batch goes out. - Postcards, not envelopes. ShipNote prints postcards. No envelopes to address, stuff or seal, and no folded card: that is the trade.
- Mailing is the product. Cards are mailed the next business day with First-Class postage included, and arrive in 4–7 business days. There is no account to create. One card is $2.49; ten or more are $1.99 each.
Missing a few addresses? See what to do when you don't have every address. For wording, there is a baby shower thank-you wording guide. Paste your list and start your batch.
Which other card services mail for you?
Postable mails every card as standard. Its FAQ lists $5.99 for one card, $5.29 each for 2 to 19 and $4.59 each for 20 or more, each plus a stamp at 82¢, which makes $5.41 a card mailed on a batch of 20 or more. It addresses envelopes from a free online address book. Our Postable comparison has the full breakdown.
Shutterfly's Mail for Me addresses, stamps and mails eligible cards in plain white envelopes, at $1.49 an envelope with domestic postage included, on top of the card price, per Shutterfly's bulk-card guide. The details are in whether Shutterfly mails cards for you. Minted has a mail-for-you service too, but only in limited quantities: see whether Minted mails cards for you.
Where is Paperless Post the better choice?
For anything sent online. Paperless Post's designs are made to be opened on a screen, and for an invitation, a save-the-date or a casual thank-you, an email card arrives the moment you send it. If you want the paper version of a design you love, a 7x5 Paper Source card on 130 lb. Mohawk Superfine card stock is a better keepsake than a postcard, and ShipNote doesn't compete on that.
- An invitation or a quick online thanks: Paperless Post.
- A printed card in an envelope that you'll stamp and mail yourself: Paper Source, from 20 cards.
- Thank-yous for 20 to 100 registry gifts, each mailed for you: ShipNote.
Frequently asked questions
Does Paperless Post send physical cards?
No. Paperless Post's help center says it does not have in-house printing services. Its cards are sent by email, text or a shareable link. Will Paper Source mail Paperless Post cards to my guests?

Not by traditional etiquette. The Emily Post Institute says to send a handwritten note for each wedding gift, and to use email only as a stop-gap that tells the giver the gift arrived and a note is coming. An email card is fine for a quick, casual thanks; for a wedding gift, etiquette asks for a note in the mail, traditionally handwritten.
What is the cheapest way to have a real thank-you card mailed to each guest?
Of the services we priced on September 29, 2026 that print each guest's own message, ShipNote: $1.99 a postcard on 10 or more, printed and mailed for you with postage included, against $5.41 a card mailed by Postable on 20 or more.
