Or a few photos from the year, or none

Most single-photo designs carry a greeting: Our Graduate, She Did It, He Did It, We Did It or Congrats Grad, or your own words. The collages take two to four photos and carry none, and the typeset designs need no photo.

The back

A graduation announcement, already written

Every card starts with this note and fills in its own name. Keep it, add the school and the ceremony date, or write your own.

The message it starts with

Dear [RECIPIENT], We're proud to announce our graduate. The ceremony is this spring, and we'd love for you to share in celebrating this milestone. With pride, [YOUR NAME]

When to send

Send two to four weeks before the ceremony

Most families mail in April or May, two to four weeks before commencement, so the card lands while the date still means something. After the ceremony is fine too: the photo in the cap and gown is better, and the news is the same.

Wording

What to write on a graduation announcement

A greeting on the front, the name and the date, and a line or two on the back. A few to start from.

Our Graduate
The card’s default: the household speaking, with the name beneath.
She Did It
The proud version, one tap away. He Did It is beside it.
We Did It
For the graduate who sends their own, or a family that earned it together.
Congrats Grad
The front everyone recognizes, in the design’s own type.
  • Grandparents

Maya graduates from Lincoln High on May 23, and we would love to have you in the stands. Four years of early mornings, and she made every one of them.

  • Family out of town

Our graduate! Maya finishes at Lincoln High this May and heads off to college in the fall. We know you cheered from a distance; this card is so you can cheer a little closer.

  • Teachers and coaches

Maya Harris graduates on May 23. You were part of this, and we wanted you to have the photo. Thank you for every extra hour.

  • The whole list

We are proud to announce that Maya graduates this spring. The ceremony is May 23 at the stadium, and she has already picked the fall, so the next card may come from a dorm.

  • College graduation

Four years later: Maya graduates on May 9 with a nursing degree and a job lined up in the city. We could not be prouder, and she could not be more relieved.

  • From the graduate

I did it! I graduate on May 23, and I wanted the people who got me here to hear it from me. Thank you for all of it.

  • The short one

Maya Harris. May 23. Done, and dancing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What families ask before they announce the graduate.

The graduate’s name and the ceremony date on the front, under their photo, or the class year if you would rather, and a note on the back with the school and what comes next. Every card prints the same front; the back fills in each person’s name, so a teacher’s card reads to the teacher.

Yes, and the cap-and-gown photo is what everyone keeps. Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB and it fills the design; the collages take two to four for the years in between. A sample photo never prints on an announcement: the card waits for yours, or pick a design with no photo.

Keep the name on the list and leave the address blank. Pressing Next: Review on the list flags the row and offers a link you can text them: they type their own address, we email you when it arrives, and one button brings their card back addressed. The rest of the list mails without waiting on it.

No, and most schools limit the seats, so it is better that it is not. An announcement tells people the graduate is finishing and lets them send a card or a gift if they like; nobody is expected to attend. If someone is invited to the ceremony or a party, say so in their note on the review step.

Two to four weeks before commencement, so most families mail in April or May. We mail every card the next business day, and most arrive 4–7 business days after that. Ordering early? Pick the day they mail, up to 90 days out.

Postage is included: USPS First-Class on every card, and it travels like any other postcard. No envelope and no tissue sheet. It is a 4x6 postcard, the photo on one side and the note, the address and the postage on the other, which is the reason it costs a fraction of a folded announcement.

$2.49 a card, or $1.99 a card from 10 cards up. Printing, the address, First-Class postage and the mailing are all in that price, with nothing to subscribe to and no minimum order. A family list takes about 15 minutes from the photo to checkout.

Yes. The front and the note are yours to write, so a graduate can start the card, tap WE DID IT, and write the note in the first person. Every card still fills in its own name, and any card can be rewritten on the review step.

The same list, the next occasion

  • A wedding next?

Announce the marriage, or the elopement, to the same list with a photo from the day on the front. See wedding announcements.

  • A new baby in the family?

Announce the arrival to the same list, with the photo on the front and the name and date beneath it. See birth announcements.

  • After the graduation gifts

The same list sends the thank-you notes, each one naming the gift, from the graduate. See thank-you postcards.

  • A graduation party?

Invitations work the same way: one card, your list, and the when and where filled in on the back. Start an invitation.

  • Moving for the next chapter?

The same list gets the new address, printed as the return address on every card. See moving announcements.
