Wording

What to write on a moving announcement

A greeting on the front, the new address on the back, and a line that sounds like you. A few to start from.

We’ve Moved
The card’s default: says it in two words.
New Address
For a card that is mostly a notice, and proud of it.
We Moved
The plainest version, and the shortest on the front.
Our New Home
For the card that goes out after the boxes are gone.
  • Family

We’ve moved! The new address is on this card, so please update your address book. The guest room is ready whenever you are.

  • The old neighborhood

We made it to Austin. We miss the block already, but the new address is right here, and the door is open if you are ever passing through.

  • Your holiday-card list

Before December sneaks up: we’ve moved. The new address is on the back, same phone, same us.

  • Across the country

Two thousand miles and one very tired dog later, we are home. Our new address is on this card. Come see the mountains.

  • Same town, new house

We didn’t go far, just across town. New address on this card, same number, and we still make the good coffee on Saturdays.

  • People who send you mail

Our new address is printed on this card. Please use it for everything from now on, and forgive us if your last letter is still finding its way.

  • The short one

New house, new address, same door always open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movers ask before they send the whole list.

One card does it in a single pass. Your new address prints as the return address on the back of every card, where the postal service and your aunt both look for it, and the note points to it. Nobody has to open an email or save a text; the address is on the card they stick to the fridge.

Yes: the new front door, the keys, the family on the porch. Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB and it fills the design. A sample photo never prints on an announcement, so a photo design waits for yours; the typeset designs need no photo at all.

Moving is when you find out whose address you never had. Keep them on the list with a name only: when you press Next: Review on the list, the row is flagged and offers a link you can text them, they type their own address, and one button brings their card back addressed while the rest of the list mails.

A week or two either side of the move. We mail every card the next business day, and most arrive 4–7 business days after that. Order before the move and pick the day they mail, up to 90 days out, so they land once you are in.

Forwarding is temporary, and it only redirects mail addressed to the old house; it does not tell the people who write to you your new address. A card puts the address in front of the people who write to you, so the next birthday card and the next holiday card come straight to the new house.

Postage is included: USPS First-Class on every card, which travels like any other postcard. No envelope. It is a 4x6 postcard printed on both sides, the greeting on the front, your note, their address, your new address and the postage on the back.

$2.49 a card, or $1.99 a card from 10 cards up. Printing, the address, USPS First-Class postage and the mailing are all in that. No subscription, no account and no minimum, and a whole address book takes about 15 minutes.

Yes. Every card starts with the same note and its own name. On the review step, open any card and rewrite it: an invitation to visit for the people you want to see, the plain notice for everyone else.

The same list, the next occasion

  • Moving in together after the wedding?

Announce the marriage to the same list, with a photo from the day on the front and the new address on the back. See wedding announcements.
