Or one photo, or a few from the day

Most single-photo designs carry a greeting: Just Married, We Eloped, Mr & Mrs, We Did It or Married, or your own words. The collages take two to four photos and carry none, and the typeset designs need no photo.

The back

A wedding announcement, already written

Every card starts with this note and fills in its own name. Keep it, edit it, or write your own; a couple who eloped keeps the same note.

The message it starts with

Dear [RECIPIENT], We're married! We celebrated with a small ceremony and wanted you to be among the first to know. Thank you for being part of our lives. With love, [YOUR NAME]

When to send

Send within two months of the day

The convention is to announce after the wedding, not before, and within a couple of months of it. A small ceremony or an elopement is announced the same way, as soon as you have a photo you both like.

Wording

What to write on a wedding announcement

A greeting on the front, your names and the date, and a line or two on the back. A few to start from.

Just Married
The card’s default: the two words everyone expects on the front.
We Eloped
Says it plainly and warmly, one tap away.
Mr & Mrs
The traditional front, with your names set beneath.
We Did It
For the couple everyone has been waiting on.
  • Family who could not travel

We’re married! We said our vows on June 21 with a few people beside us and all of you in our thoughts. We’ll bring the photos when we visit this fall.

  • Friends across the country

It happened: June 21, a small ceremony by the water, and a very happy pair. We wanted you to hear it from us, in writing, before you see it anywhere else.

  • The whole list

Please meet the newlyweds. We were married on June 21 in a small ceremony and wanted everyone we love to know. Thank you for being part of our lives.

  • After a courthouse wedding

We made it official at the courthouse on June 21. No big party, just the two of us and a signature. We could not be happier, and we wanted you to know.

  • Coworkers

A small update from the two of us: we got married on June 21. Same names at the office, one new last name at home, and a honeymoon on the calendar.

  • The reception comes later

We were married on June 21 in a ceremony of six people. The celebration is still to come, and an invitation will follow once we set the date.

  • The short one

Married. June 21. We’re still smiling.

Elopements

Eloped? Send the announcement anyway

An elopement announcement is the same card with a different front: tap WE ELOPED, keep the starter, and tell people the way you would in person. Two notes to start from.

  • The people who would have been invited

We eloped! Just the two of us, a courthouse and a very good lunch on June 21. We skipped the big day, not the people, so this card is to tell you first and to say we love you.

  • The whole list

Surprise: we’re married. We eloped on June 21 with two witnesses and no fuss, and we’re happier than we have words for. We’ll celebrate with everyone when we can.

Frequently Asked Questions

What newlyweds ask before they send the whole list.

A greeting on the front, your names and the date, and a photo from the day. The note on the back says you are married and, if you like, where and how small it was. Every card prints the same front; the back fills in each person’s name, so your grandmother’s card reads to your grandmother.

Yes, and the day’s photo is the whole point. Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB and it fills the design; the collages take two to four. A sample photo never prints on an announcement: the card waits for yours, or you can pick a design with no photo.

Yes, and it is the kindest way to tell people who might otherwise hear it secondhand. An elopement announcement goes out just after the wedding and says so plainly: WE ELOPED on the front is one tap away, and the note on the back can be two sentences. Nobody needs an apology, only the news and a photo.

Add them with a name only. The row is flagged when you press Next: Review on the list and offers a link you can text: they type their own address, we email you when it arrives, and one button brings their card back addressed. Everyone else’s card mails in the meantime.

No. An invitation asks people to come; an announcement tells people it happened. It goes to everyone who was not invited, or could not make it, and it asks nothing of them. If a reception is still to come, say so in the note, and send the invitation separately when the date is set.

Within two months of the wedding, after it rather than before. We mail every card the next business day, and most arrive 4–7 business days after that. Leaving for the honeymoon first? Order now and choose the day they mail, up to 90 days out.

Yes to postage: every card carries USPS First-Class and goes through the mail like any other postcard. There is no envelope, which is why a 4x6 announcement costs what it does: your photo on one side, your note, their address and the postage on the other.

$2.49 a card, or $1.99 a card from 10 cards up. That includes printing, the address, First-Class postage and the mailing. No subscription, no account, no minimum. A list takes about 15 minutes from the first photo to checkout.

The same list, the next occasion

  • A baby on the way?

Announce the arrival to the same list, with your photo on the front and the name and date beneath it. See birth announcements.

  • A graduate in the family?

Their photo, the date and the same list, two to four weeks before the ceremony. See graduation announcements.

  • Moving in together?

The same list gets your new address, printed as the return address on every card. See moving announcements.

  • A reception still to come?

Invitations work the same way: one card, your list, and the when and where filled in on the back. Start an invitation.

  • After the gifts arrive

The same list sends the wedding thank-you notes, each one naming the gift. See thank-you postcards.

Tell everyone you’re married.
