Wording
What to write on a save the date
Your names and the date go on the front. The back has room for a line or two more: the city, your wedding website, a note that the invitation follows. A few to start from.
The whole list
We’re getting married on September 19 in Asheville, and we can’t imagine the day without you. Formal invitation to follow; the details are on our wedding website.
A destination wedding
We’re getting married in Tulum on March 6! Save the date and start dreaming about the beach. Travel and hotel details are on our website, and the invitation follows in the fall.
Family far away
Book the flights: we’re getting married on June 13 in Chicago, and it won’t feel complete without you there. The invitation and the hotel block will follow.
A holiday weekend
Hold Labor Day weekend for us: we’re getting married on Saturday, September 5, in Portland, Maine. Plan to stay the weekend; more to come with the invitation.
Friends who need the head start
It’s official, and it’s on the calendar: October 10, Austin. Save the date now, RSVP later, dance all night.
Without a wedding website
We’re getting married on May 22 at the Riverside Inn in Madison. Please hold the evening for us; a formal invitation with every detail will follow.
The short one
We said yes. Now we’re asking you to save the date. Invitation to follow.
Frequently Asked Questions
What couples ask before they mail the whole guest list.
The same guest list, before and after the day
Postcard or magnet?
Both end up on the fridge. A postcard needs no envelope, costs less to mail and greets each guest by name. Compare magnets and postcards.
Married, or eloped?
Tell everyone who was not there, with a photo from the day and the same list. See wedding announcements.
When the gifts arrive
The same guests get your thank-you notes, each card naming what they gave. See thank-you postcards.
Save the dates, off your list.
One photo, one note, your whole guest list. Every card is printed, addressed and mailed for you, from $1.99 a card on 10+.
