Free Printable Thank-You Cards: 10 Designs as a 4x6 PDF

10 of ShipNote's no-photo designs, drawn by the same code that prints the cards we mail, with the name and date left off, so the front is yours and the back is blank for a pen. Download the PDF or print this page: flat 4 x 6 cards, two to a Letter sheet, with cut marks. Free for personal use.

The printable thank-you cards

8 thank-you designs, then 2 more for a wedding. On screen, the dashed line on each card is where the cut lands; on paper it becomes crop marks outside the card. The color runs past it on purpose.

How do you print them?

On cardstock, at Actual size, in landscape. The file is 5 landscape Letter pages with two cards each; print one side only, cut on the marks, and write on the back.

  • Paper: matte cardstock, 80 to 110 lb cover (about 220 to 300 gsm), the heaviest your printer will feed. Office paper prints fine and feels like a flyer. Glossy photo paper takes ink well but ballpoint skids on it, so if you want gloss, write the note before you cut.
  • Scale: choose Actual size or 100%, never Fit to page, which shrinks the cards, so the card you cut out is no longer 4 x 6.
  • Orientation: landscape Letter (8.5 x 11). The file carries that setting, but a print dialog that remembers portrait will clip the right-hand card.
  • Cutting: line a ruler up on the marks at opposite corners and cut with a craft knife or a paper trimmer. Each card is drawn 4.25 x 6.25 inches and cuts to 4 x 6, so a cut that lands a sixteenth of an inch off still leaves color to the edge. Art Deco is a full-navy card: it uses the most ink of the set, and a cut that drifts outward shows a white sliver, so cut it last, once your hand is in.
  • The back: blank. Write the note there, the way you would on a postcard, or print the sheet on both sides if you have a layout of your own for the back.
  • Mailing: an A6 envelope (4.75 x 6.5 inches) fits a 4 x 6 card with room to spare and mails at the letter rate. On cardstock, you can address the back and mail it as a postcard, which costs less: USPS gives the postcard rate only to a card at least 0.007 inch thick, so office paper doesn't qualify. The stamp calculator has the current rate for either.

These are flat cards, postcard size, not the folded A2 that most boxed thank-you cards use. If you want a folded card or an exact envelope match, thank-you card sizes lists every common size, the envelope each one takes, and which ones cost more to mail.

What is in the file?

One PDF, 5 landscape Letter pages, 10 cards, no account and no watermark on the cards. Each card is a 4.25 x 6.25 inch canvas with crop marks at the 4 x 6 trim.

  • The designs: Minimal, Editorial, Arch, Sprig, Color Block, Big Script, Whimsical and Botanical for any thank-you, then Watercolor and Art Deco from the wedding set. Every front says thanks in the design's own lettering; where a mailed card prints a name and a date, the front is left blank. Each page of the file names its two designs in the margin.
  • Fonts: embedded, so the script faces print as drawn on any machine, with nothing to install.
  • Color: each design is a full-bleed background, and both the PDF and the Print button carry it as drawn. If a card comes out white with only the lettering, check the printer's own ink-saver or draft setting and, in a browser, Background graphics.
  • What is left out: two of ShipNote's thank-you fronts, because they don't belong on a blank card: one pre-writes the whole note on the front, and the other prints a postmark and a mock stamp, which would confuse a card you might actually mail.

Which ones work as wedding thank-you cards?

Watercolor and Art Deco are drawn for weddings, and Botanical, Minimal and Editorial sit just as well on a wedding table. For a bridal shower, Sprig and Whimsical read lighter.

The card is the easy half. If you are stuck on what to say, the thank-you note generator writes a draft for the gift, the giver and the occasion, and the wedding gift tracker is the list of who gave what, with a column for the day each note went out. A thank-you that goes out late is still worth sending; how late is too late has the honest answer.

What if you have 40 of these to send?

Printing, cutting, writing, addressing and stamping 40 cards is an evening, and the stamps alone cost more than you'd guess. ShipNote prints these same designs on real postcard stock, one per guest with their own name and gift on it, and mails them for you.

Pick a design, write one message with a gift placeholder, and paste your list or upload the tracker. Each card prints that guest's name and gift, is stamped and addressed, and goes out the next business day, or on a date you choose at checkout up to 90 days out. Most arrive 4–7 business days after they mail. You see every card before you pay, and a guest with no address gets a private link to type their own in.

Cards are $1.99 each on 10 or more, printing and postage included, so 40 cards come to $79.60. The thank-you postcards page shows the photo designs too, and what prints on the back.

Printable thank-you card FAQ

What size are the printable thank-you cards?

Flat 4 x 6 inches, postcard size, once cut on the marks. Each card is drawn 4.25 x 6.25 inches with a 1/8 inch bleed, so a cut that drifts a little still leaves the color running to the edge. They are not folded cards: write your note on the blank back.

Do I need an account to download them?

No. The PDF is a direct download with no sign-up, no email and no watermark on the cards. A small line in the page margin, outside the cut marks, says where the file came from.

Can I print them on regular paper?

You can, but they will feel like a flyer. Use matte cardstock between 80 lb and 110 lb cover (about 220 to 300 gsm), the heaviest your printer feeds. Choose Actual size, not Fit to page, and landscape Letter.

Are these the same designs ShipNote mails?

Yes. The 10 fronts on this page are drawn by the same code that prints a ShipNote thank-you postcard, with the name and date lines left blank. When ShipNote mails them, each card prints the guest's own name and gift, and the postcard is stamped and addressed for you.

Rather not print, cut and stamp?

Bring your list and each guest gets one of these designs as a postcard with their own name and gift on it. Order 10 or more and each one is $1.99, postage included.
